It totally is a form of gaslighting. Like, if people can convince the person that's been assaulted that it's their own fault, the problem "goes away", from a patriarchical perspective. Same with other people buying into the idea that an assault victim brought it on themselves -- that frees those other people from having to care, or act. >_<
